Anjum Alix Noon’s solo exhibition, ‘Take a Piece of my Heart’ , curated by Sadaf Malaterre , opens at Canvas Gallery on Tuesday May 7th2019 from 11 am- 4 pm.
With a PhD in Art History from LCWU, Lahore, Noon says “consisting of 61 self-portraits and 17 digitally printed textiles; the work has developed around the accessibility to large amounts of instantaneous photographs from my cell phone; some as selfies, tags or texts. Self-portraits by definition mean that it revolves around your own person. I have tried to experience Connectivity, Self-Projection and Self Promotion through the task of painting self-portraits. This reminds me of the words of the 18th century French nobleman and chemist, Antoine- Laurent Lavoisier who said ; nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed”.
The show remains open daily until Thursday May 16th 2019, from 10 am – 5 pm (excluding Sunday).
