Origins of a Destination

Istanbul is always on high. The present Istanbul exudes of vanity of its past origins – the Ottoman cultural heritage. It seduces you in its world where everything is a harmonious dichotomy and it is not that easy to understand what is the origin and where is the residue – modern HERITAGE, religiously SECULAR, culturally SUFI, destitute PRIDE, greatness REMAINS, busy CONNECTED. Istanbul is culturally diptyched – trying to reconcile its origins.

Raheel Tajuddin Lakhani is an Educational Technologist in a private university in Pakistan. He is a recipient of High Honors in Master of Education from The Aga Khan University. Currently, he is participating as a digital innovator in an academic scholarship program ‘Social Innovation in Digital Context’ at Lund University funded by Swedish Institute, where he is exploring the development of a storytelling approach for promotion of freedom of expression and self-esteem in Pakistani context. He is also a self-taught photographer, published in two coffee-table books and participated in few local and international competitions / exhibitions. His interests include eLearning pedagogy, learner’s autonomy, freedom of expression and pluralism, visual/textual narratives and digital collaborations.
